Pilates is a system of movement and a form of therapeutic exercise. It was developed by Joseph Pilates, a German athlete, and pioneer in physical therapy. He originally called the system “Contrology”; and it emphasizes the uniform development of the body through physical exercises that help correct muscle imbalances and improve posture, coordination, balance, strength, and flexibility and increase respiratory capacity.
Clinical Pilates works for anyone and has been used since its development to train Premier League footballers, dancers, boxers, and Olympic athletes.
